The Job
The Associate Director of Account Management is a deliberate, calculated, and results-driven role that works across our Strategy, Growth and Integrated Marketing teams. This position is pivotal in managing and developing client relationships, leading account teams, and driving integrated marketing initiatives that deliver measurable results. As the Account Management AD, you will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, fostering strong relationships while ensuring agency profitability and high-quality execution. We anticipate this role to manage between 3-4 integrated clients.
As an Associate Director, this role will be responsible for mentoring and training team members. Developing strategies to stay ahead of the ever-changing digital landscape will be pivotal in the success of this position. The ideal Associate Director of Account Management candidate is a critical thinker who is proactive and decisive.
The Work
- Account Management: Oversee day-to-day management of key accounts, ensuring campaigns are on track, meet budget requirements, and align with client objectives.
- Client Leadership & Strategy: Act as the primary point of contact for high-value clients, providing strategic counsel on integrated marketing initiatives including digital, social, content, PR, and experiential.
- Campaign Planning & Execution: Work closely with internal teams (creative, media, digital, analytics) to create and implement multi-channel campaigns that align with client strategies and KPIs.
- Financial Accountability: Manage account budgets, oversee billing processes, and ensure profitability across projects.
- Performance Reporting: Analyze campaign performance, preparing and presenting regular reports to clients with insights and recommendations for optimization.
- New Business Development: Contribute to agency growth by identifying opportunities for existing clients, supporting new business pitches, and strengthening client relationships.

- Bachelor’s Degree
- 4-7 years of relevant experience, preferably within an integrated marketing or advertising agency
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with a focus on driving results
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to manage and motivate a team
- Proficiency in project management tools and analytics platforms is a plus

- Knowledge and basic understanding of Backbone’s services and offerings – including, SEO, SEM, Affiliate, Social Media, PR, Programmatic, and Retail Marketing.
- Experience or ability to use a suite of tools and platforms to manage client relationships, campaigns, and workflows including: Project Management, CRM, Campaign Management, Data & Analytics, Content Creation & Design, and Communication.

Salary: $75,000-$85,000 annually plus benefits, depending on experience
